Do you know the facts about Arthritis?
- Arthritis is the nation's leading cause of disability.
- 46 million Americans (1 in 5) and 300,000 children have one of the more than 100 types of arthritis. Over 4 million Canadians have a form of arthritis.
- Arthritis affects 2 times more women than men.
- Costs to the U.S. economy totals more than $86.2 billion annually.
- THERE IS NO CURE.

AOII IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
Since 1967 over 1.5 million dollars has been raised by AOIIs and donated through the Foundation to support the mission of conquering arthritis once and for all!
AOII Foundation awarded $111,500 this year through your help!!!
Arthritis research grants:
- A total of $91,500 has been awarded for two research projects for 2009-2010.
- A total of $20,000 for family scholarships and children's activities were awarded at the national JA Alliance conference. Pandas were also donated through the Panda Project for children.
Arthritis funding:
- $20,944 awarded for local arthritis program support in the communities where AOII chapters raised these funds. Arthritis walks with AOII teams raised $7,025.
